International saxophone contest

SAXPERIENCE COMPETITION

Belgrade, Serbia

Article 1

Saxperience Competition is an international music event bringing together professional saxophone players, students, teachers, and fans.

Article 2

The founder and organizer of the Competition is Serbian Saxophone Society (hereinafter “the Organizer”)

Article 3

The competition is public and regulated by the competition requirements and rules and regulations determined by the Organizer. The requirements regulate the competition categories, while the rules regulate the competition elements.

Article 4

The competition is held in Belgrade, Serbia, every December.

Article 5

The Organizer:

  • Sets the competition date and determines the place
  • Sets the competition requirements, rules and regulations, and judging rules
  • Sets application fees
  • Appoints the Competition Director and the Jury Secretary

Article 6

APPLICATIONS

Application deadline: December 5, 2024.

Applications should be e-mailed to competition@saxperience.rs or can be completed online at www.saxperience.rs

The right to compete is granted to all candidates who have submitted complete applications and who meet the competition propositions and follow the rules and regulations.

Every candidate needs to submit their application by the deadline set by the Organizer, along with the proof of application fee payment and scans of either the birth certificate (for Serbian nationals) or the first page of their passport (for foreign nationals).

Serbian nationals pay the application fee in Serbian dinars, as determined by the propositions.

Foreign national pay the registration fee in euros, as it is determined by the propositions.

To be considered complete, each application should comprise the following information:

  • Applicant’s full name
  • Date of birth
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • The category they are competing in
  • School name and place
  • Name of teacher/mentor
  • Name of accompanist (or official accompanist)
  • Competition program with the duration
  • Signed consent that photos, videos and competition results may be made public

Article 7

Judging

The judges are selected by the Organizer. The Jury comprises the Jury President, the Jury Secretary, and the judges chosen from the ranks of the teachers whose students are competing, each in their own category.

Jury membership is voluntary/unpaid.

The Jury President and Jury Secretary are appointed by the Organizer.

The Organizer will award each judge with a Certificate of Participation in Jury Work.

The responsibilities and work of the Jury are more closely described in the Judging Rules.

Article 8

Prizes

Based on the score, the following prizes are awarded:

First prize: 95-100 points

Second prize: 90-94.99 points

Third prize: 80-89.99 points

Honorable mention: 60-79.99 points

 

Article 9

PRIZE FUND

The winner of each category will be awarded a cash prize in the value determined by the Organizer if he/she had been given 95 points or more.

The best-placed competitor in the thirteenth category, if he/she wins 100 points, the Organizer guarantees a performance at the Belgrade Saxperience festival in the following calendar year.

 

Article 10

The responsibilities of the Organizer:

  • The Organizer will check all submitted applications for irregularities, and in case any are found, will notify the submitters of such applications and request changes.
  • The Organizer will ensure that the contestants have space and time for warm-ups before the competition.
  • The Organizer will provide each contestant with a Certificate of Participation.

Article 11

The responsibilities of the contestants:

  • The contestants will cover their own travel and accommodation expenses, as well as the costs and expenses of their accompanists.
  • The contestants will abide by the rules and regulations set herein.

Article 12

The Organizer is not responsible for any injuries incurred or any damages done to musical instruments and/or other equipment the contestants are handling during the competition.

Article 13

The competition goals:

  • to prepare students for important solo public performances;
  • to improve the quality of musical interpretations through the exchange of experiences between foreign and local teachers;
  • to improve saxophone studies (in Serbia) with the introduction of master classes;
  • to encourage and improve the competitive spirit among the contestants;
  • to promote and popularize classical saxophone and music written for classical saxophone;
  • to encourage partnerships and collaborations between local and international saxophone players;
  • to enable young local saxophonists to perform before international teachers;
  • to promote the work of Serbian composers and encourage them to continue writing new scores for saxophone.

Article 14

The Organizer reserves the right to record, reproduce, and broadcast the program, while the contestants are not entitled to compensation for the audio and video recordings of their performances.

Article 15

The application fee will not be refunded should the applicant decide to withdraw from the contest.

Article 16

The Organizers reserves the right to make any changes to the program, as well as rules and regulations, should it be necessary.

Article 17

By sending the application, the candidate/the candidate’s legal guardian accepts and agrees to all of the rules and regulations stipulated within this Document. In case of any disputes, the Court in Belgrade will adjudicate on the matter, referring to this Document in its original form, in the Serbian language.
